Islander Family Email - 9/18/17

9/18/17

Dear Islander Families,

This Thursday is our first of three calendared Coronado Unified School District late-start days to support professional collaboration time for our staff.  Your students will come to school later than customary for a shortened school day.  PLEASE SUPPORT US BY ENSURING YOUR CHILD IS IN SCHOOL.  We plan unique experiences for these late-start days, and consider them critical learning opportunities.  This Thursday our CHS ASB has coordinated the events of the day around human relations, in which students will attend an assembly with a motivational speaker and participate in team and community-building activities in classrooms.

ALL STUDENTS will attend school from 10 AM to 2:30 PM on Thursday and meet with their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th periods (CHS E, 1st, and 6th periods will NOT meet, but 7th period and CoSA 7th and 8th WILL meet).  Please see the schedule here:  http://chs.coronadousd.net/static/media/uploads/Coronado%20High%20School/Late%20Start%20Day%20Motivational%20Speaker%209-21-17.pdf

Blood Drive

The CHS Red Cross Club will be holding a blood drive in the MPR on September 20th, 2017 from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M. Students 16 years old and up, including community members, are eligible to donate. However, it is required that students who are 16 years old (under 18) have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian (available in the front office). A photo ID is required of anyone who wishes to donate.

Coronado Schools Foundation is again partnering with Reiss SAT Seminars to offer a school-year program for students desiring support and tutorials for the SAT and ACT. Classes will be scheduled to prepare students for the November 4, 2017, March 10, 2018 and May 5, 2018 SAT test dates, as well as the December, 9 2017 and June 9, 2018 ACT test dates.

An optional ACT class will be available as part the November and May SAT classes. All classes are conveniently scheduled on Saturday mornings and are held at Coronado High School, 650 D Avenue in Coronado.

  • Class dates for the 11/4/17 SAT: 9/30, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28 (10/28 is the optional ACT class)
