Islander Family Email - 5/12/16

May 12, 2016

Dear Islander Families,

Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with the Keating and Clark families as we join the community in honoring our fallen Navy SEAL, Petty Officer Charles Keating, IV.

Our students have an opportunity to participate in a community gathering as Charlie Keating’s motorcade travels west down the center of 6th Street from C Avenue to Alameda Boulevard at about 12:40 PM tomorrow (Friday).  The motorcade will then go north on Alameda Avenue, and then turn east on 4th Street to make its way to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery for final interment.

The motorcade will begin during the CHS lunch period.  We invite our 10th-12th grade students to line 6th street by 12:30 PM, and will excuse freshmen who wish to participate from their on-campus lunch at that time to gather on 6th between D and F Avenues.  Students will return to class directly after the passing of the motorcade, and late arrival to 5th period classes will be excused.

Our sophomore class is on a field trip tomorrow to the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.  We extend deep gratitude to the Coronado Schools Foundation, Coronado Chabad, generous donations of CHS families, and the contributions of individual students and parents to provide this meaningful experience for our students.

Your CHS PTO and Administration encourages you to consider volunteering to fill the following roles in our CHS Parent/Teacher Organization:

ü  President

ü  Vice President

ü  Communications

ü  Teacher Appreciation Team Members

Please email Tam Dorow at for more information and to volunteer!  We appreciate the assistance and support of our PTO!

CHS will be offering a limited summer school program for students in need of remediating failing grades, with priority given to graduating seniors and rising 12th graders.  Families with students in need of credits will be contacted.

We look forward to seeing our CHS families and community supporters at our spring events and graduation!  Thank you for supporting CHS!
