Dear Islander Families, 9/19/16
Club Week: This week is Club Week at CHS! At break and at lunch, students will have the opportunity to "shop" clubs, who will have tables set up on the quad and representatives to talk with interested students about their mission and activities. All CHS clubs have student leadership and a faculty advisor, and meetings are generally held at lunch. We will publish a list of clubs and meeting times soon!
National Honor Society Tutoring at CHS: FREE, with support from both Honors Society students and counselors and teachers. Tuesdays from 2:30-4:00 and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:00 PM in the CHS Library.
We will be on a Late-Start schedule this week on Thursday! School will start at 10:00 AM for E Period students, 10:33 for 1st period, and 11:07 for 2nd period. Late-Start meetings, occurring in September, December, and March, are opportunities for teachers across the district to collaborate and align curriculum. PICTURE MAKEUP DAY IS ALSO ON THURSDAY—students may arrive to school early to have their photos taken in the Black Box Theatre. See Thursday’s Late Start schedule here:
Math Night Wednesday 6 PM in CHS Theatre: Are you curious about the Integrated Math approach adopted by Coronado Unified School District this year? Do you want to know more about the CPM (College Preparatory Math) curriculum implemented in our classrooms at CHS? Are you wondering why our students are working in groups? Do you have questions about instruction and homework? Come to our District Math Night on Wednesday at 6 PM in our CHS Theatre, and learn why our math teachers are excited about what's happening in their classrooms and what it means for our students and their understanding of and confidence in mathematics.
Our next PTO meeting is at 9 AM on September 27 in the library: http://chs.coronadousd.net/calendar/event/5-pto-meeting-3
CHS is pleased to announce the start of a new, ongoing, on campus lunch group, "Casual, Creative Corner." This group is open to all students. We will meet every Monday during lunch in the C.C.C. The focus of this group is to provide a safe space to build social connections through music, art, Legos, tinkering, and more. No Skill Level and No Expectations. If you are tired of feeling bored at lunch come spend your time with us!
Have a great week!
