Testing Season at Coronado High School!Posted by: Erin Rowan 6 months, 4 weeks ago
It is testing season at Coronado High School!
There are three main areas in which students are testing this year:
CAST (California Science Test) 11th and 12th grade students.
CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) a Math and English test for 11th grade students.
AP Testing (Advanced Placement) 10, 11, and 12th grade students who are in AP classes have signed up to take AP tests for their particular course in an attempt to gain potential college credit.
When are the testing days?
The CAST will be given on April 2nd and 3rd to all 11th and 12th grade students.
The English CAASPP will be given on April 9, 10, 11, and 12 to all 11th grade students.
The Math CAASPP will be given on May 21, 22, 23, and 24 to all 11th grade students.
If your student is taking an AP class, their AP test will be held on a day between May 6 and May 17. They should already know the exact day for their test.
What should my child do to be ready for testing?
Your student should get some solid rest the night before testing, eat breakfast, and get to school on time! If they are taking an AP test, their teacher may offer a review session before the test. Your student may want to attend that session if it is offered. On CAASPP days, your student should bring analogue earphones if they have them. They should have a plug in connector like this:
What do I need to do for testing?
Please make sure that your student unplugs from their phone the night before testing and gets some sleep. Make sure they get some breakfast in the morning, and remind them that they will do great! Make sure your student is present and on time for testing days.
When will we see testing results?
California is moving towards an all-online score reporting system. We anticipate that CAASPP and CAST results will be available to schools and families online in August or September.
AP students will have access to their scores online in mid July.
Why does testing matter?
Our test scores influence our school’s ranking in the state of California. Our school’s ranking influences everything from how colleges view our students for admissions to real estate values in our community. Our school district has traditionally performed very well, and the expectation is that our students will continue to show their quality!
Thank you for partnering with us in making sure your student is present and ready to do their best this testing season!
