Dear Islander Families, Teachers, and Staff;

As the school year comes to an end, I want to take a few moments to thank our fabulous PTO. The collective effort of volunteering in order to serve the students, teachers, & staff at CHS was remarkable. Parents assisted PTO in a variety of ways whether it was dropping off dozens of bagels, decorating the teacher’s lounge or buying a gift card for a teacher. Your commitment to CHS is much appreciated. PTO membership is our primary source of income. Thanks to your $40 annual membership, we were able to provide elaborate monthly teacher’s luncheons, offer grants to teachers, pass out snacks to students after testing, mail monthly birthday cards with gift cards enclosed to all teachers & staff, & provide funds for Islander Awards to just name a few. Thank you for making all of this possible!
In Mid-April, CHS hosted its first ‘Future Islander Night.’ The school welcomed 150 incoming 9th graders & parents to campus with leis, CHS band, & many smiling faces! It was wonderful for them to learn more about CHS.  Thank you to the many sports teams, clubs, and teachers who made that night a success.

Thank you to the Junior class parents for passing out snacks and water in April to the juniors after a hard more of testing. They appreciated your thoughtfulness!

Two weeks ago, we had teacher appreciation week in which every day we provided the teachers and staff with different treats. Thank you, PTO parents, for your contributions during this fun-filled week!

Monday- bagels, muffins, coffee & juice
Tuesday-Candy bar buffet
Wednesday- Cinco De Mayo Fiesta
Thursday-Root beer floats
Friday- Ms. Mellina’s Treat Trolley

End of School Activities

CHS has a lot going on during the next month. There’s carnival, prom, powderpuff, Islander Awards, Senior Awards, finals, & graduation! In order for end of school activities to go smoothly, it’s a tradition that different grade level parents volunteer for specific events.

9th Grade Parents- Responsible for decorating the stage for graduation 6/16.
10th Grade Parents- Set up & provide snacks for Senior Awards 6/13.
11th Grade Parents- Responsible for graduation reception decorations & refreshments, & provide powderpuff breakfast 6/16 & 6/3.
12th Grade Parents-Sell senior banners & seats for graduation, provide breakfast for senior powder puff players & for the graduating class 6/3 & 6/16.

Thankfully we have a wonderful group of parents who are willing to donate their time and financially to help make end of school activities as special as possible. There will be emails, sign up geniuses and social media posts asking for assistance so please keep your eyes open for those in the next couple of weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or the below grade level parents.
